The shift from product value to information tool – iCartridge monitoring module

At this year’s ACHEMA, Kroma Ltd is presenting an innovation in the sealing industry. We are excited to present our iCartridge monitoring system. This module consists of a pressure, vibration and temperature sensors fitted to a microcontroller board with Bluetooth capabilities. The iCartridge can be mounted directly to any cartridge seal, which enables live monitoring of seal and pump condition at any time. The iCartridge module ensures that changes in the operating behavior of the system are detected at an early stage, and maintenance work can be better planned, avoiding seal failure and unplanned process failures.

Considering the size of the iCartridge module, it can be fitted to a complete range of our cartridge seals. This includes our standard ISO DIN cartridge seals, API Seals, Mixer Seals as well as special seals from pulp and paper industry, sugar industry and more. In reality this module can turn any centrifugal pump into a smart pump with enhanced features. A battery unit, which is also supplied, provides self-sufficient power supply.

The data, which is captured on set intervals, is stored directly on the iCartridge and can be downloaded via Bluetooth at any time. Also the user has the option to view live sensor readings and log them directly on the mobile device. The data is always stored locally thus minimizing the risk of storing the data on Cloud services. Finally the module is imprinted with the seal designation and by a push of a button the user can view the complete seal information with operating parameters and complete technical drawings.

The aim of the newly developed solution is to create a smart interface for the vast number of pumps in operation worldwide.
